It’s French Quarter Fest weekend! There is also the big book sale at the Pontchartrain Center and at the Latter Library in New Orleans for book lovers. The Food Truck Festival in Gretna and lots of fun storytimes around town. Here are all of the fun things you can do this weekend in Jefferson Parish with kids: April 17-19, 2026.

French Quarter Fest: Food, music, fun throughout the French Quarter all weekend long.
Friends of the Jefferson Parish Library Book Sale: Friday and Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm; Sunday, Noon – 5 pm. Over 65,000 books, records, CDs, and more on sale to support the Jefferson Parish Library at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.
Rosedale Storytime: 10:30 – 11:30 am for ages 0-5 at the Rosedale Library.
Community Garden Work Hour: 11 am – NOON. Everyone is invited to help work in the first-ever community garden at the Terrytown Library.
Flower Necklace Craft: 3:30 – 4:30 pm. Ages 0-11 can make a flower necklace craft at the Lafitte Library.
NORDC Movies in the Park: Bring blankets and chairs to Stallings Gentilly Playground in New Orleans to watch The Smurfs. Kids’ activities from 4-6:30 pm, with the movie starting at 7 pm.
Madagascar, A Musical Adventure Jr.: 7 pm. Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto the stage in this musical adventure! Rivertown Theaters.

100th Anniversary Family Fun Day at Landry-Porch Farms: 10 am – 2 pm. Live music, food truck, jump house, arts and crafts, and U-Pick Strawberries at Landry-Porch Farms in Holden, La.
Basic Beginner Chess: 10:30 – 11:30 am. Ages 6-11 can learn basic chess skills and strategies at the Harahan Library.
LEGO Club: 10:30 – 11:30 am. Ages 4 and up can build LEGO creations at the Old Metairie Library.

Holy Cross School offers an extensive summer camp and a variety of summer programs for boys and girls of all ages. We have something for everyone, making it a memorable summer for all campers!

Summer Camp Details:
- Open to boys and girls ages 5-12 years old
- Runs from June 1 – July 10
- Camp registration opens on Monday, February 2, 2026
- Costs: $440/per session (sessions are in 2-week increments)
- Before-care and after-care services are available for $35/week
- Lunch cost is $8/day and provided by Pigeon Catering
- Field trips: Kindergarten will enjoy on-site field trips, while campers in 1st through 7th grades will enjoy off-site field trips.
